Founder Peter's Story: Living With Tinnitus

Like many others, I have a constant ringing in my ears. It’s not just a sound - it’s in my head, and it’s there to stay. This is tinnitus, a condition that’s with me 24/7. For me, it’s on the left side, always loud and high-pitched, like an alarm that never shuts off. Day and night, it’s my constant companion.

I've been living with constant ringing in my ears - tinnitus. It's like a high-pitched alarm in my head, present 24/7. For me, it's on the left side, and it's always there, day and night.

It all started 18 years ago after I dreamt of an explosion. I woke up with a loud ringing that never went away. At first, I panicked. I kept hoping it would disappear, but I soon realized I had to learn to live with it.

I tried everything - doctors, specialists, acupuncture - nothing helped. The internet was full of horror stories, making things worse. Eventually, I had to accept it, even if the doctors couldn't offer a solution.

One thing that helped was focusing on other sounds, like outside noise or rain sounds while falling asleep. Everyone needs to find what works for them, but distraction and acceptance were key for me.

I carry earplugs everywhere for loud noises. The one thing I don't want is it getting worse. You're not alone. Talk to others and share what you're going through. It's okay to ask for help.
